FAQ

(Frequently Asked Questions)

1. "Do I need a referral from my family doctor prior to my appointment?"
Yes, the patient is responsible for insuring that their PCP (Primary Care Physician) office is aware of their appointment here and that the appropriate referrals get sent to us prior to the visit. This will enable us to prepare for your visit and schedule appropriately.
2. "What do I need to bring when I come to see my doctor?"
All of your medications and over the counter drugs that you are taking in their originial containers, your insurance card(s), a picture ID, your co-payment, and any other medical information that may be helpful for us to review.
3. "Should I bring a family member to my appointment?" The choice to have a family member present is a personal one. If you don't feel well or are having symptoms that cause you concern, please consider having a friend or family member come with you. It can be very helpful to have someone you trust listen to the doctor's instructions with you.

4. "Will my insurance cover the costs of my tests?"
We will file claims with your insurance company and, if we participate with their plan, will apply payments and adjust non-allowed charges on your account. You will be responsible for any deductible, copayments, or services deemed payable by the patient. If you have questions concerning how much of your deductible has previously been met, or how your copays are determined, please contact your insurance company directly at the customer service phone number on the back of your insurance card.

5. Will the results of my test be sent to my family doctor after my procedure?

Yes. We make every effort to keep your primary care provider informed about your treatment. We realize that your most successful prognosis results, in part, from your primary care physician and your specialists working together.
6. Which hospitals do your physicians participate with?
Our doctors are visible in all three Southside hospitals: Chippenham Medical Center, Johnston-Willis Hospital, and St. Francis Hospital.
